Tips for life's aggravations.

There's a multitude of helpful tips that can be easily used at home, and on the job, which save time and money.  Here I will share some of my favorites with you.

Getting swarf (grease & dirt) out of clothes.
When it's fresh; before you launder, rub ordinary white floor wax into the spot and work it in well.  It desolves the grease, and washes out.  I'm not sure about polyester, or poly blends, but it works wonders on cotton.

Removing adhesive from floor tiles.
When putting down new tiles with adhesive, clean up any messy spots when the job is done, with ordinary dish liquid.  Sunlight works well: just work in enough to moisten the area, and it disintigrates and just wipes off with a cloth.

Unplugging slow running sinks.
Before you buy Drano or Liquid Plummer, try this less offensive and effective trick.
Put about a quarter cup of baking sode into the drain hole, and pour in about half cup of white vinegar.  Let it bubble, then pour in a bit more vinegar.  Let it sit until it stops bubbling, then turn on the tap.
If it's still a bit slow, do the same process; it may take 1-3 applications, but if it's only grease it should work.

Deodorizing a fowl smelling sink.
Pour some bleach into the hole and let it sit until you need to run the tap.
