Names used to be given to represent events, some were prophetic about that
persons character, or way of life. Anyone who has watched biblical movies, or read the bible will have registered this
on some level in their mind.
Some of the choices that are being made for names now, don't sound like names
at all. This makes the study of root words rather interesting. It's appropriate to recall here, Abraham
means: father of many nations; Sarah means princess; and Isaac is a reference to laughter.
How about Ayden (Heb. ay-den;
masculine) it's actually Hebrew for Eden, Adam's home.
Saul (Heb.) is Paul in Jewish, and Saulos in Greek.
Michal or Mikal (king Saul's daughter), it means rivulet.
Merab (may-rawb) means increase; also Saul's daughter.
Not many would actually name their child Jesus, but follow these possible alternatives.
Jesus (ee-ay-sooce) Jehoshua; (Heb. Yeshua, the annointed one). Can you see the transition to Joshua, or Josh?
